Prep the Sausages

Step 1
Pat sausages dry with paper towels.

Step 2
Insert a small skewer into each (or serve stick-free).

Make the Batter

Step 1
In a bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Step 2
In another bowl, whisk egg, buttermilk, and melted butter.

Step 3
Mix wet ingredients into dry until smooth.

Step 4
Fold in crushed FRITOS® for added texture.

Coat the Dogs

Step 1
Pour extra crushed FRITOS® into a shallow bowl.

Step 2
Dip each sausage into the batter, letting excess drip off.

Step 3
Roll in crushed FRITOS® for a crunchy outer shell.

Fry to Perfection

Step 1
Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2
Fry 3–4 corn dogs at a time for about 3 minutes, until golden.

Step 3
Drain on paper towels.
